The arrangement
North Shore Kitchens is a referral service for kitchen renovations on Sydney's lower North Shore. When you get in touch, we talk through the kitchen, arrange a visit to measure and discuss design, and the renovation is then quoted and carried out by the licensed builder we work with.
We are not a builder ourselves, and we would rather say so on this page than leave you to infer it.
The builder
Renovation work is carried out in partnership with Coastal Renovation Group, a licensed NSW builder. Licence and insurance details are provided on request.
When you have the licence number, look it up on the NSW Fair Trading public register. It shows the licence holder, the class of work, whether the licence is current and whether there are any conditions. A reputable builder expects you to check.
Why a materials-first approach
Kitchens on the North Shore tend to be long-term investments in houses and apartments people intend to stay in. The things that decide whether a kitchen still looks right in fifteen years — carcass board, edge sealing, hardware ratings, how a benchtop stains or chips — are exactly the things that are hardest to compare between quotes.
So the site is written around those details: what joinery is made from, how benchtop materials behave after the engineered stone ban, and what the building or the council will have to say before any of it is installed.
Why the lower North Shore only
Because the constraints are local and specific. A Federation house in a Mosman conservation area, a 1970s walk-up in Neutral Bay, a tower apartment in Chatswood, a bushland-backed house in Lane Cove and a large family home in Lindfield each need different advice. Five councils, dozens of strata schemes and some very steep streets make generic guidance unreliable.
Area guides: Mosman, Neutral Bay and Cremorne, Chatswood, Lane Cove and Lindfield.
What you will not find here
- Reviews or star ratings. This is a new website without a trading history to show. None have been invented.
- Testimonials or project counts. Same reason.
- Awards. None are claimed.
- Prices over the phone. The published cost bands are a planning guide. A fixed figure needs a measure and a design.
How a project starts
A conversation about the kitchen, a visit to measure, a design and selections stage, then a written quote that names the materials. The NSW maximum deposit of 10 per cent applies, and for work over $20,000 home building compensation cover must be in place before any deposit is requested. See how a kitchen project runs.
